From “Afternoon on a Hill” by Edna St. Vincent Millay:
I will be the gladdest thing
Under the sun!
I will touch a hundred flowers
And not pick one.
Right now we have several types of daylillies in bloom: orange daylily; stella d’oro; and two I don’t know the names of but I think they are of the “carousel princess” variety. We also have shasta daisies, coneflowers (echinacea), and some gloriosa daisies that I think are wildflowers but I leave them alone because they’re pretty. Also, honey bees! It must be beautiful to stand ANYwhere in your yard! Very nice!
Well, the photos do make it look a little prettier than it is. I don’t show you all the ant hills and crazy weeds growing where our grass should be. But, I have plans for more flower beds which will cover up some of the undesirable areas. Someday I want my whole yard to be an explosion of flowers. I’m sure the neighbors will LOVE that 😉 But, you know, I’m living my life for me, not them.
