Because I love the world
I think of grass,
I think of leaves
and the bold sun…
– – –
Teacher, what do you mean?
But faith is still there, and silent.
– – –
And who else could this be, who goes off
down the green path,
carrying His sandals, and singing?
— from “Spring” by Mary Oliver
(you should really read the whole poem; it’s wonderful)

Thanks for including the Mary Oliver poem. I hadn’t read it before but love it! Great Spring photos
Susan, I love just about everything Mary Oliver has ever written (including a very good essay about Robert Frost’s poetry, I might add!). Her work is a beautiful amalgam of spirituality and love of the natural world, and she wrestles with deep issues in such a subtle way; she brings clarity without ever stating anything explicitly. She’s the tops 🙂
Do you know where I can find the essay on Robert Frost ?
I have it! I can lend you the book. I can drop it off on Wednesday or give it to you Sunday.
Sunday would be fine. Thanks!
